Week 2: CEO Case Study: Human Resources Management in Action page 58
I
would say A, for the fact she is showing up and doing her job. You can’t blame
her for coming in on her days off, for the fact her employees are calling in
sick. At least she is taking responsibility and coming into work to help. She
can keep on hiring, and finding more help. The only problem is it’s a gamble,
you don’t ever know who’s actually going to be good help. She needs an employee
that’s going to man up, and show up for the job and work. How could she really
quit them from calling in sick? If they are sick once or twice out of a month,
then start asking for doctor note. Who’s going to really pay to go to a doctor
if they are really not that sick, and if they do bring one in then you just got
to keep them. They will eventually having to call in sick, or just quit. Which bales
you to find more help, there is no guarantee that everyone you hire is going to
have good work ethics. It just does not happen that way, you just got to try
keeping the ones that are worth the money. Now the general manager could fire
her, but that would be one more job to take on and is she really doing anything
wrong? The rooms are kept up and you’re getting customers in all the time. I
think that she is doing her job and keeping the place clean, which is making
more people willing to come back. Help her find more help, that way she will be
able to have some time off. Also more likely you will be able to keep her
around.
